The Tech Requirements

Minimum hardware & software requirements

All Requirements

Using Novadontics software is easy—all you need is a typical PC or Mac and high-speed Internet access. We recommend the following minimum computer and Internet requirements. For best results, consider exceeding these whenever possible. Technology advances rapidly, so please refer to this page periodically for updates. If you are unsure about any of this information, please contact a Novadontics customer service expert at 1-888-838-nova.

  • 8GB of RAM or higher is recommended
  • WebGL compatibility

Any PC or Mac using Novadontics software will need access to the Internet either directly or through a local area network. Most business broadband accounts can service these needs very inexpensively. Recommended connection types include High Speed DSL, Cable, Fiber, or High Speed Copper (T1, T3) lines.

Dial-up connections are not acceptable, and satellite and wireless service are not recommended. The minimum recommended connectivity for the average practice (1-10 users) is 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload. If your office is sharing bandwidth with other tenants in the same building, or if you regularly upload and download large files, you may need greater connectivity than what is listed above.

Consult with your Internet Service Provider or IT Professional to determine the appropriate service for your practice.

  • Windows 8, Windows 10
  • Mac OS X Sierra or newer
  • Intel Processor Core 15 or higher
  • Novadontics also works with AMD processors*
* No specific models are noted. Verify your digital devices are compatible with AMD processors.
  • Graphics card GPU/APU requires support for WebGL 1.0; check with the manufacturer.
  • You can also test existing devices for WebGL compatibility at https://get.webgl.org. Dedicated graphics cards are recommended.
  • 19” monitor or larger (for best user experience we recommend iMac 27-inch display)
  • 1280 x 1024 standard
  • 1280 x 800 widescreen
  • 1920 x 1080 laptop – recommended
  • To ensure color correctness and appropriateness for clinical review, please ensure that monitors used for clinical activities meet the requirements for clinical image review. It is highly recommended that all monitors are calibrated periodically to ensure appropriate brightness, contrast, and color settings, especially when used for clinical purposes.
  • For best user experience we recommend iPad Pro 12.9-inch display.
